Explore the hidden technique of the ancient Greek phalanx during the Persian wars and interact with your team using historically accurate replicas of Ancient Greek Hoplite equipment. This experience is perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends who want to enjoy history while having fun and interacting with one another. You’ll get the chance to make new friends from all around the world and participate in sport exercises like Othismos or Push.

Great history lesson and fun for the kids

Gregory is so knowledgeable about the history of Athens and its importance in world history. Part of that was how the Athenians managed to triumph in battles against the odds. My 9 year old son and I were in Athens for a long weekend and this was a fun add on experience to tours of the Acropolis and the museum. You meet close to the Acropolis and walk to a local park where Gregory brings history alive. I learnt so much. Fun for mini historians! Also, I messed up our original booking by travelling to completely the wrong meet up point on the other side of Athens - but Gregory was very kind and rebooked us. For the record, this is a central Athens activity! Close to the Temple of Hephaestus etc.

Feel like a Hoplite

This is a must-do activity if you are in Athens. In no other place the Greek history became so alive for me then when Gregory shared his immense knowledge about history and ancient warfare. We could hold spears, swords and shields and he trained us in how to build a phalanx. It was so much fun while being informative at the same time. He also seemed to customize the experience based on who is joining so I can wholeheartedly recommend this to families and adults alike. Thank you for this amazing time!

A fab experience. Kids 8 and 10 both really enjoyed it and Gregory brought ancient warfare and its context alive for them - as well as the chance to try it themselves!

So much good history. Caters to the audience and allows you to travel in time with his explanations. Highly recommend while in Athens

We loved the experience. Great for families! My kids are little 1,3, and 5 but they did ok bc it is in a nice park. We learned more from Gregory than from our two prior guides combined
