Beautiful scenery, friendly people, not over touristed (yet...) and wonderfully atmospheric hotels at the high end of the price range. Our guide, Tasha Dema, and driver, Sonam, both spoke excellent English, were very knowledgeable about the country's customs, culture, etc. and made sure that we got to do all the things that we wanted to do, off the beaten path or not.
The views from Dochu La Pass were incredible, Punaka Dzong was a very wonderful experience. Good shopping for fabulous handwoven textiles and Central Asia turquoise, coral and silver ethnic jewelry. Food is mostly mediocre, even in the best hotels. An all around first class travel adventure, but done in relative comfort.
