    The 1692 Salem Historical Day Tour will meet at the Hermetic Arts Center at 272 Essex St. Your Guide will check you in, and the tour will start at the corner of Essex and Sewell St. From there, you will continue down Essex St. to the Witch House. As you walk through Salem to visit each historical site, you will hear a jaw-dropping story covering Salem's history before the trials, what caused the witch hysteria, who were the Judges and Accusers, how residents responded to the accusations, who were the 20 victims, and how the trials came to an end. A really interesting view of the people of Salem, their views, and how those views led to a terrible tragic outcomes for innocent people caught up by a specious set of beliefs. Our guide, Jeff, was knowledgeable and understanding about those events, the motivations of some of the people involved, and the impact on the community as a whole. We came away from the tour with a much greater appreciation for the difficulties of life in the colonial period. Jeff has a wicked sense of humor too which helped immensely as this is not a joyous subject by any means.
