Walk through the picturesque streets of beautifully kept, authentic buildings (many of which were standing in Shakespeare's time!), all whilst hearing the story of Stratford unfold. From Stratford's ancient origins to life in modern Stratford, the incredible tales of Danes running rampage to the establishment of the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company -there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this walking tour! Join your local guide on a 1.5 hour stroll around the main sights of Stratford-Upon-Avon, along the way discovering the rich history behind our scenic canals complete with swans, incredible theatres and beautiful buildings - and discover some local secrets too! Discover: Royal Shakespeare Theatre Town Hall Canal Basin The oldest pub in town Holy Trinity Church Shakespeare's Birthplace …and much more you wouldn't discover on your own!

What To Expect

1. The Gower Memorial Met your guide at the Gower Memorial and discover what each four statues symbolise, as well as learn a little about Stratford's origins 5 minutes

2. Shakespeare's Birthplace See Shakespeare's Birthplace from the outside and discover Shakespeare's life here with your local guide. This is very interesting architecturally too. Shakespeare's Birthplace is seen from the outside 5 minutes

3. The Shakespeare Centre Officially opened on Shakespeare's 400th birthday, this building hides an incredible amount of Shakespearean knowledge 5 minutes

4. Henley Street Walk down Stratford's main street to spot famous statues and be in the centre of Stratford's hustle and bustle. With interesting buildings all around, there's lots to see and discover. 5 minutes

5. Town Hall Stratford upon Avon View the Civic Town Hall as your guide unravels the surprising history behind this stately building 5 minutes

6. The American Fountain Peer into the American Fountain to find not water, but a swinging pendulum for the clock above 5 minutes

7. Shakespeare's New Place Take in the beautiful gardens on the ground where Shakespeare's second residence, the massive New Place used to sit, and learn what exactly happened to the house of the Bard 5 minutes

8. The Almshouses These beautiful almshouses sit next to Shakespeare's old school, and are still being used for their original purpose 5 minutes

9. Hall's Croft Although in disrepair, this is easily one of the most beautiful houses in Stratford - and used to belong to Susanna, Shakespeare's daughter 5 minutes

10. Holy Trinity Church Walk out towards Stratford's Holy Trinity Church, final resting place of Shakespeare. Take a step inside the church with your guide and enjoy the natural beauty around the church 5 minutes

11. The Other Place Discover the charms of The Other Place, and the stars who performed there before they were famous 5 minutes

12. Swan Theatre Once destroyed by fire, the Swan Theatre rises like a phoenix (well, swan) from the ashes 5 minutes

13. Royal Shakespeare Theatre Finish the tour at the internationally-acclaimed Royal Shakespeare Theatre, home to the Royal Shakespeare Company 5 minutes
