Overview

Located at the tip of the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford in Ireland's Ancient East, the Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, and has marked the entrance to Waterford Harbour for over 800 years. Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of this purpose-built, fully operational lighthouse. The visitor center features a gift shop, an art workshop, exhibits and a café. The Hook Lighthouse truly is one of a kind. This shared guided tour is available for groups of no more than 5.

Our tour guide Lisa was fantastic. A wealth of knowledge, very engaging with everyone and good fun. Hook Lighthouse is an amazing structure, the history behind how it was built and how it was operated through the years would blow your mind. Hook Lighthouse is very special, especially to Wexicans. Hook Lighthouse is a must see on your tour of Ireland. The guided tour was amazing and explained the history of both the lighthouse (how and when it was constructed etc) and the people who manned it from as far back as records could determine. The history of the pioneers who settled the area and how it even came to be were all part of the information shared with visitors. And the views are absolutely unparalleled. Well worth adding to your itinerary.
